USO, Army Community Service Brings Slice of Joy to Soldiers in Japan With ‘Operation Pizza Drop’

Troops stationed at Yokohama North Dock, in Japan, got an early Thanksgiving of sorts recently, feasting on multiple kinds of pizza pies courtesy of Operation Pizza Drop. The base’s size and location make it difficult to provide a good selection of food to residents, so the free lunch, arranged for by USO Japan and U.S. Army Garrison Japan’s Army Community Service program, was a delicious surprise.

Phantom Village: Fort Cavazos DPW Gives Fresh Start to Reopened Barracks

Phantom Village reopened in a ribbon-cutting ceremony highlighting improved living conditions for Soldiers. For Sgt. Geovannie White, the barracks manager for the newly named Phantom Village, Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion, III Armored Corps, and Tracey Foster, area manager for the Fort Cavazos Directorate of Public Works, the ceremony symbolized closure for both the Soldiers who worked on the renovations as well as the Soldiers who will be returning to live there.

Teen Workforce Program Offers Local Youth Chance to Build Professional Experience, Boost Life Skills

The Teen Workforce Preparation Job Fair is aimed at teens 16 to 18 years old who fall under the Status of Forces Agreement. Camp Zama Soldiers, Civilians Work Together to Bring Halloween Spirit to Local Children’s Home

Residents at the Seiko Gakuen children’s home in Japan got to experience the Halloween spirit when Soldiers and civilians from Camp Zama visited the home Oct. 30 and passed out bags of candy. Leading the effort were members of Camp Zama’s Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers program and members of the Logistics Readiness Center. Spc. Desiree Butler, a BOSS member assigned to the 78th Signal Battalion, said the event was a great way to spend time with local children and foster a relationship with the surrounding community by sharing American culture with them.
