Housing

Quality housing for Soldiers and their Families contributes to Army readiness and leaders are committed to finding ways to improve housing conditions on installations around the world.

The Army has a total of 100,000 houses and 90% of them are managed by one of six private companies (about 87,000 homes across 50 locations). Across the force, approximately 35% of Army Families live on post and 65% live off the installation in civilian communities.

Moving

The Army has two peak moving seasons: Summer (June-September) and again in the Winter (December-January). Soldiers and Families can have the Army move their household goods or choose to move themselves which is known as a Personally Procured Move. The Soldier must receive OFFICIAL ORDERS before scheduling the move process. You can get to know your next duty station right away! Download the My Army Post App (MAPA) for Apple or Android and choose your new installation. Soldiers Orders now show a QR code to remind you to use this resource.
