Military Charity Organization Receives Humanitarian Award

Secretary of the Army Christine Wormuth presented the 2023 Zachary and Elizabeth Fisher Distinguished Civilian Humanitarian Award to members of the Children of the Fallen Patriots Foundation. The award is bestowed on those who profoundly improve the lives of service members and their Families. Since 2002, the foundation has provided $70 million in scholarships and grants to nearly 3,000 children of Gold Star Families, which include Families of Veterans who died in combat and approximately 1,600 graduates.

Fort Drum Hosts Education Forum for Community Partners

Officials at Fort Drum, New York, met with local school administrators and professionals during the annual Partners in Education forum. The forum is designed to ensure students receive the necessary support and guidance for academic success. Dr. Todd Benham, chief of the department of behavioral health, spoke about the mission to promote Soldier readiness and access to care. He also highlighted the support services the Soldier and Family Readiness division provides, including the Family Advocacy Program and the New Parent Support Program.

Exchange Senior Enlisted Adviser Focuses on Improving Quality of Life at Schofield Barracks

During his visit to Schofield Barracks, on Oahu, Hawaii, Air Force Chief Master Sgt. Kevin Osby toured exchange facilities and met with U.S. Army Garrison-Hawaii Commander Col. Steve McGunegle to discuss how the Defense Department retail outlet can better serve military members and their Families, including the addition of more popular clothing brands. The main store is undergoing a multimillion-dollar renovation that will include refurbished restrooms and a repainted food court with new lighting and other enhancements.

Thanksgiving Help for JBLM Service Members, Families

Leaders at Joint Base Lewis-McChord want to make sure that no service member or their Family goes hungry this holiday season. In keeping with that goal, Col. Kent Park, JBLM commander, presented a $50,000 check to the Armed Forces Community Service program. The funding will enable the program to provide food vouchers to Soldiers in need.

Milestone Achieved for Integrated Primary Prevention Workforce
